2007 Rules
The 2007 season rules are a revised version of the NCAA College Lacrosse Rules. For the past few years, the club league has been using revised International rules. The rules for this year are very similar. However, being that most officials are also College officials, the removal of certain rules from the NCAA rule book makes it less confusing for all involved.
The major rule changes and differences from the NCAA are as follows:
- No 10 or 20 second count for clearing the ball and entering into Offensive/Attack box (see diagram below)
- 20 minute running quarters
- Penalty time is running time and starts with whistle after penalty is called. If there are no balls on the end or side line, then time is stopped until whistle starts play again.
- 5 long poles allowed
- No horn
- Live ball timeouts are allowed with possession anywhere on field
- All manufactured sticks are legal, including box sticks (all other NCAA rulings apply)
- Last two minutes for team leading must be kept in Offensive/Attack Box according to the NCAA rules.
If there is no Offensive box
(for whatever reason, such as no lines on a turf field allowed) then both teams must note this and the officials need to let each team know that the side to side line rule inside of the restraining line will apply.
- Sudden Victory rules for overtime - same as NCAA rules (4 minute overtimes with 2 minutes in between each overtime.) 1 time out per team/per overtime. Timeouts do not carry over from regular game time and/or overtimes. Coin flip to determine sides at end of regulation play.
