The 2012 Southern California Lacrosse Association (SCLAX) finals have been played and in a close game that saw the lead go back and forth between the South Division Champion 40 Thieves and North winners Newport Beach, the game ended with 40 Thieves on top 9-8
40 Thieves will now travel up to Sausalito on Saturday, June 30th to face 2011 California State Champion and 2012 NORCAL Champion Olympic Club. Game time is 1:00
The 2012 Southern California Lacrosse Association (SCLAX) division finals have been played!
In the North Division, 2011 SCLAX Champion Beverly Hills lacrosse Club lost to division rival Newport Beach Lacrosse Club 10-6. Beverly Hills tied the score at 1-1 at the 13:36 mark of the first quarter and took a 2-1 lead at 16:00 of the seco0nd quarter but never got closer than 6-4 at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Newport Beach came to play and and seemed to come up with every 50-50 ground ball.
In the South Division 40 Thieves Lacrosse Club, 2011 South Division winner and SCLAX runner up took on Quiksilver Lacrosse Club at Quiksilver’s home. In a hotly contested game which went down to the wire, 40 Thieves walked away with a 11-10 victory.
Newport Beach Lacrosse Club will host 40 Thieves at Peninsula Park on Sunday for the 2012 SCLAX Championship. Game time to be announced. The winner will travel up to San Francisco the following week to face the winner of the NORCAL league for the California State Championship.

In the North Division 2011 defending SCLAX Champion Beverly Hills Lacrosse Club will face the Newport Beach Lacrosse Club, 18-10 winners last week over South Bay Lacrosse Club. The Beverly Hills team finished the season as a #1 seed with a 9-1 record. Newport came in second at 7-3 suffering two of their losses at the hands of Beverly Hills. The game will be played this Sunday, June 17th at the Bucks home field at Saint Bernard High School in Playa Del Rey. Face off at 12:00.
In the South Division Quiksilver Lacrosse Club will host 40 Thieves who outlasted a tough San Diego Lacrosse Club last Sunday with a 9-6 score. 340 Thieves won the 2011 SCLAX South Division. Quicksilver and 40 Thieves both finished the season at 8-2 with Quiksilver earning last week’s bye by virtue of a coin flip. The game will be played Sunday, June 17th at LaJolla High School with the faceoff set for 1:00
The first round of the 2012 Southern California Lacrosse League playoffs get off to a start this coming Sunday, June 10th. The North Division playoffs will start off with #1 seed Beverly Hills Lacrosse Club getting a bye while the #2 seed, Newport Beach Lacrosse Club will host first time playoff contender and #3 seed South Bay Lacrosse Club. The game will be played at beautiful Peninsula Park in Newport Beach Sunday @ 10:00 A.M. The winner will take on 2011 SCLAX Champion Beverly Hills at Saint Bernard High School in Playa Del Rey on Sunday June 17th at 1:00.
In the SCLAX South Division, based on a tie breaking coin flip with #1 seed Quiksilver Lacrosse Club will get a bye while #2 seed and 2011 South Division Champion 40 Thieves will host the up and coming San Diego Lacrosse Club at the Bishop School in La Jolla this coming Sunday at 2:00. The winner will face 2011 SCLAX South Division runner up Quicksilver at a site and time to be determined on June 17th.
The two winners of the June 17th game will face off the following week on June 24th to determine the SCLAX Champion. The game alternates annually between the North & South Divisions and will be hosted by the North Division winner this year. The SCLAX Champion will travel up to San Francisco on the weekend of June 29th to face the NORCAL winner for the California State Championship.
